Leading Breakthrough Schools: Raising Expectations and Student Achievement

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Today’s principals are ultimately held responsible for student achievement. Hear from and interact with school leaders from Marshall Fundamental Secondary School, San Diego Met High School, San Ysidro High School, and The Preuss School UCSD. These secondary schools are recognized as MetLife Foundation-NASSP Breakthrough Schools and are exemplars for school improvement. These schools made significant improvement in student achievement while working with large numbers of economically disadvantaged students. Breakthrough Schools are aligned with the Breaking Ranks School Improvement Framework. Learn about the successes achieved by using the Breaking Ranks School Improvement Framework that focuses on collaborative leadership, personalizing the environment, and giving attention to curriculum, instruction, and assessment for the educational success of each student. Breakthrough Schools are dynamic places of learning; evolving as required by the changing needs of their students; and staff members are committed to preparing all students for college and careers.
