Building a Community

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

This workshop provides practical skills and resources for educational leaders aimed at building community and improving outcomes for students and families from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds at the school site. Participants will be introduced to research-based strategies and theory and provide practical steps a leader can take to build a culturally proficient school community based on respect, trust and collaboration with all of the stakeholders in the school. This workshop will give examples of how school leaders are implementing such theory into action and are currently transforming a low performing school to be an innovative, inclusive school community. Leaders will learn how in one year, a new administration increased school attendance, reduced suspensions by 90% and transformed the image of a once, struggling school site.
