A Statewide Special Education Task Force was originally formed in October, 2013 and worked throughout 2014 to develop a policy and implementation plan to guide California’s transformation of programs and outcomes for students with disabilities. The Task Force originated from the collaborative efforts of the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC), the California State Board of Education (SBE), and the California Department of Education (CDE). The 34 members of the Task Force represented parents, teachers, special education administrators, general education administrators, higher education, non-public agency, and charter schools. The recommendations have now been formulated and respond to the basic question - As California works to transform its education system to increase achievement and positive outcomes for ALL students, how can systems of supports, services, and pedagogy align and integrate to provide students with disabilities opportunities that maximize success in college, career, and life?
